THE EDMONTON STORYTELLER
A Documentary Film About Tony Cashman
Anthony “Tony” Cashman was born April 29, 1923 in Edmonton, Alberta. Tony attended Grandin School and St. Joseph’s High School. He served in the Second World War from 1942-1945 as a navigator with the RCAF, flying 30 missions over Germany. In 1953, Tony began a series of broadcasts entitled, “The Edmonton Story” for CJCA radio. The stories illustrated Edmonton’s history and were later compiled into many books, the first published in 1956.
Tony’s personal experience of being an Edmontonian is every Edmontonian’s story. He shares the hopes, the growing pains, the excitement that it means to live, work and play in Edmonton. Unfortunately, Tony passed away recently. A funeral mass will be celebrated on June 14, 10 am, at St. Joseph’s Basilica.
